Applied Materials Director, Global Security Operations Center in Austin, Texas
The role of Director, Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) is to drive the vision, development, and implementation of the company’s collection, analysis, dissemination, mitigation of security related information and issues, and security incident management strategy and services across the globe. The role requires planning, design, deployment, and oversight of the Company’s GSOC and RSOCs operations globally, including the collection of intelligence information and escalation of threat activities directly or indirectly affecting the company’s people, assets, and interests. There is a major focus on customer service, as the GSOC serves as the focal point for incident management and crisis communications.
Key Responsibilities
Lead world-class security operations center for the organization
Work with stakeholders to identify, onboard, and continually improve end-to-end situational awareness and web-based technology tools
Create SLAs and KPIs around intelligence gathering, incident management, and security service delivery
Assist in the development of new processes and procedures as GSOC scope and strategic goals broaden and technologies are onboarded
Ensure ongoing training and development for assigned team members
Deliver actionable insights to the Global Security organization as well as to other Business Units across Applied Materials
Facilitate business continuity/crisis management escalations and communications with corporate stakeholders
Business Expertise
10-15 years in a similar role within a corporate, government, or military security-related organization
Project management and budgeting experience for small to large scale projects
Strong IT and systems architecture knowledge
Knowledge of security operations and procedures
Knowledge of security systems operations
Broad and comprehensive understanding of different Security related systems, theories and practices
Leadership
Must have 100% credibility, objectivity, and respect across all parts of the business
Ability to collaborate with other management groups (IT, HR, Finance, Legal, EHS)
Willingness to challenge status quo and innovate and introduce new ideas using researched and well-prepared presentations
Model sound judgment and effective time management skills
Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship building and collaboration within a diverse, cross-functional team, promoting a positive employee culture
Available to respond to off-hours emergency notifications that require high-level oversight
Experience
Advanced understanding of workplace violence and related cases/issues/incidents
Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders, proactively messaging a corporate vision and forward-thinking strategies
Involvement in ASIS international, TAPA Americas and ATAP preferred
CPP, PCI, CFE, or similar certification preferred
Team leadership experience, within a security operations function preferred
Strong and effective written and verbal communications skills, including experience in presenting to small and large groups
Skills
Strong expertise in a variety of electronic physical security systems and technologies, including video surveillance, access control, video intercoms, alarms, turnstiles, etc.
Service-oriented/customer-driven approach
Willing to travel internationally
Excellent organizational and presentation skills
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university preferred, although combination of work experience and education may be accepted

U.S. Salary Range:
$164,000.00 - $225,500.00
The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
