Applied Materials Program Manager, Data Governance in Santa Clara, California

Applied Materials has an exciting opportunity to join our Global Litigation & Compliance Team. We’re looking for an experienced and practical program manager to help support the implementation and management of our data governance strategy. This role requires experience in data management, data governance frameworks, and prior global program management expertise. In this role, you will be supporting a legal team in maintaining data policies, procedures, and standards across multiple business and support functions. You will work closely with the business units, engineering, procurement, information security, and human resources teams on key programs. This position requires excellent communication skills, organization, attention to detail, and keen judgment for prioritization and execution in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework, including policies, procedures, and standards, to ensure data integrity and security across the organization.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish and enforce data governance standards, roles, and responsibilities.

  • Define, align, and implement policies and standards with legal and business stakeholders.

  • Maintain program roadmaps, KPIs, and other metrics to measure and report progress to senior leadership.

  • Collaborate with information technology and business functions to develop and implement data governance tools, technologies, and infrastructure.

  • Develop and deliver training programs to increase data governance awareness and understanding across the organization.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to data governance and recommend changes as appropriate.

  • Provide guidance and support to business units in the adoption and adherence to data governance policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Program Management, Risk Management, Information Management, or similar degree from a recognized university. Minimum 6-10 years’ relevant experience in data governance, data management or a related field, preferably in the technology sector.

  • Experience working on company-wide data governance or management initiatives at a global company with cross functional teams, capable of handling projects with notable risk and complexity.

  • Experience in implementing data governance tools, technologies, and infrastructure.

  • Collaborative by nature and able to build strong partnerships, including experience supporting stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas and anticipate potential objections.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, impeccable integrity, good judgment, flexibility, and pragmatism.

  • Strong presentation, data visualization and PowerPoint skills.

  • Creative problem solver who is detail oriented with sound business judgment.

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis, and project management skills.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, global environment and able to manage and prioritize a diverse and complex workload.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience within a Legal team, including managing programs related to privacy, IP, data governance, and other legal issues.

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree.

  • Additional language skills.

U.S. Salary Range:

$124,000.00 - $170,500.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
