Applied Materials SAP GTS Export Control Manager in Santa Clara, California

It’s an exciting time at Applied Materials. We are hiring a Global Trade Manager to manage export controls in SAP GTS. This position will report into Trade Legal and will work closely with Trade Operations and Trade IT teams.

The SAP GTS manager is responsible for helping to configure and enhance SAP GTS, to comply with regulatory changes in the Semiconductor industry, today and tomorrow. The SAP GTS manager will be responsible for delivering operational excellence related to SAP GTS management, utilizing license exceptions and meeting license reporting requirements, both internal and external. The position will lead an international team and report to the Senior Manager of Export Controls. This position requires a strong SAP technical understanding and a strong background in US export compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage SAP GTS license determination strategies to comply with US export controls and changes in regulations.

  • Manage a team that analyzes, resolves, and reports global SAP GTS blocks daily.

  • Manage GTS reporting to comply with annual reporting requirements or customer reporting requirements.

  • Partner with export license managers to create SAP order release templates, implement systematic trade rules, and build new export licensing programs.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining process documentation to define current SAP GTS controls and GTS enablement strategies.

  • Offer creative insights and solutions to complex problems that may require simple IT enhancements or larger IT projects.

  • Interface with SAP technical teams to lead projects and oversee user acceptance testing for newly enabled solutions.

  • Partner with data analytics to build robust dashboards for reporting and assurance auditing.

  • Collaborate with regional trade teams on licenses required, license eligibility and license gaps.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience managing exports and advising on export controls: > 5 years

  • Experience with SAP GTS ERP Module: > 5 years

  • Management experience: > 3 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA, CPA, or advanced degree preferred.

  • Certified Export Specialist, CUSECO or Licensed Customs Broker preferred.

Knowledge/Skills Abilities:

  • Ability to make decisions, evaluate outcomes and manage change in a dynamic environment.

  • Results oriented, with the ability to work independently, managing priorities and complex workload.

  • Expert on US Export Controls and how to determine US license requirements.

  • Experience applying and utilizing US license exceptions.

  • Strong understand of Category 3 of the commerce control list.

  • Strong understanding of semiconductor end use controls.

  • Experience managing large datasets and reporting in Tableau.

  • Ability to manage an international team.

U.S. Salary Range:

$128,000.00 - $176,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
